What if Me and You, moved objects around, completed the level, and escape together? Sounds simple, right? Will we make it to the end or will you be the sacrifice? There’s only one way to find out…
In Me and You, our goal is to move pieces of paper around to change the physics of the objects. Use the paper to make rocks solid so that we can push them, or phased so that we can walk through them. Make water into rocks, enemies into friends and flags into wins. Work around mazes, underwater scenes, gardens and various environments to solve the puzzle and win.

Collaboration
Communication is key to solving the puzzles, as you and your partner each move one character. We need to work together to place the papers to form short, simple sentences. These straightforward sentences help us move objects out of the way and allow us to reach the flag to victory.
If we made a mistake, we could undo the move or restart the level so there is no risk. Although I was shocked to discover that one level requires a player to sacrifice themselves, I found that great fun. There are expected outcomes, though, as we tried to end a level one way and it wouldn’t count as completed.
Another fun aspect was that we don’t just turn the level objects into different items. Our player tokens could also be changed into rocks, walls, etc to help solve the level.

Jigsaw and puzzles
Each level we completed unlocked a new jigsaw puzzle piece that they place to reveal a picture. The first one we completed was of an origami aeroplane. Having a mini jigsaw puzzle build as we complete the levels is a nice touch and adds to the puzzle fun. I think I would have preferred it if we unlocked the pieces and then had to build the jigsaw ourselves, but I do love a good jigsaw, so I am maybe a little biased.
Upcoming levels
The demo only had a few levels to test when we played, but there have been multiple updates and hints of what levels are to come. I look forward to seeing other items, like skulls, doors, and your friend becoming a moving wall, that help keep your character safe and reach the flag. There’s room to make some complex, fun levels with this game, and I hope the full version keeps its promise of so much more.

Inspiration and style
Me and You is inspired by the game Baba is You, which came out in 2019. So, the concept isn’t new, but since I haven’t played Baba is You, I don’t know how similar the levels are. Nevertheless, I enjoy the simplistic nature of the artwork and controls, mixed with the ever-increasing complexity of the puzzles. Their Steam page mentions neither AI nor whether the creators drew the game or used asset packs. A little more information on this would be nice.

Worth the wait?
Is Me and You worth the wait for the full version? Duncan and I certainly think it is. We really enjoyed playing the game and working out how each level came together and got solved. We left wanting more at the end of the demo, and that is surely a good sign for what’s to come.
Though maybe a little too simplistic for heavy gamers, I think Me and You is a great little game for those of us who like to relax and play with friends for fun.
