Twitch are introducing and new system to offer subscription discount offers to your viewers. Using this tab, streamers can offer a 35% discount on 5 or more gifted subs over a limited period, encouraging their viewers to gift more. So, let’s have a look at this new feature.
What Is It?
The new Twitch Subscription Discount Promotions BETA is exactly what you’d expect. Streamers have the option to offer discounts to their viewers when gifting subs for special events and sub-a-thons.
Streamers get 70 hours of discounts a year over 7 promotions, so streamers have the flexibility to start these promotions when it suits them best. There doesn’t seem to be a scheduling option however, so it is down to the streamer to get it started and manage how they use their time.
To start your discount, select the number of hours you want to use and hit “Start Discount”. Simples.
Setting Up Promotions
You can find the Promotions tab under “Subscriptions” in the “Monetization” tab of your Stream Manager.
Navigate to the “Subscription Discount Promotions” tab and you will get a new menu with the panel to set up your promotions.
You’ll need to use this tab to “Opt-In” on Twitch promotional offers and activate subscription discounts.

Conclusion
It’s certainly an interesting Twitch feature which could make special events such as anniversaries and birthdays fun. The lower price point is there to encourage people to be more generous during these events, but streamers are essentially locked in for a 10 hour stream if they want to make full and even use of their time. Alternatively, they could use all 70 hours in one go for an epic sub-a-thon.
Does it change much for the average streamer? Probably not, but it’s nice to be able to have some control over promotions on your own channel and not just waiting for Sub-tember to drop. And let us know what you think of this new feature.
