When most people think of Monster High, they jump straight to the big names like Draculaura, Frankie & Clawdeen. But if you’ve been in the fandom a while, you know there’s a whole world of lesser-known ghouls who are just as interesting (and honestly, sometimes even cooler).
Let’s talk about some of those underrated dolls, the ones that didn’t get as much spotlight, but definitely deserve it.
Isi Dawndancer – A Soft-Spoken & Magical Deer
Isi Dawndancer is one of those dolls that feels super special. She’s inspired by deer mythology and has this calm, spiritual vibe. She’s the kind of character who’d rather be out in nature than in a crowded hallway, and many of us can relate to that.
She is an exchange student at Monster High and originates from Boo Hexico. Isi Dawndancer lived there all her life until a vision notified her of Monster High and urged her to study there. She brought her love for traditional dancing with her and shared it with the “Fearleaders”. She didn’t appear in any of the major movies, which already put her at a disadvantage.
On top of that, she only got one doll release in 2017 in the “Brand-boo students” line. So not many fans had the chance to get to know or fall in love with her. That mix of low screen time and one release is a big reason she flies under the radar. But her design is, in my opinion, one of the most enchanting in the whole line.

Isa is a dreamy burst of sunrise magic, designed with delicate nods to a mystical deer spirit- graceful, gentle, and quietly enchanting. With her soft pastel palette, nature-inspired details, and serene expression, she feels like she’s stepped straight out of a fairytale forest. Fans adore Isa not just for her ethereal beauty, but for the calming, kind energy she brings to the lineup. She represents softness, renewal, and a connection to nature that resonates deeply within the community. Whether displayed on a shelf or styled in creative photos, Isa Dawndancer has quickly become a beloved symbol of peaceful charm and whimsical elegance, yet she has only ONE DOLL!
Honey Swamp – Sweet, Creative, & Movie-Obsessed
Honey Swamp is such a fun character. She’s got that Southern charm, a love for filmmaking, and a big imagination. She’s basically the artsy friend who’s always got a project going.
She is a swamp monster, specifically the daughter of the Honey Island Swamp Monster and is a native of New Goreleans. She appears in the film Frights, Camera, Action! In 2014, which fits her personality perfectly. She has 3 dolls, starting in 2014, including her core look “Frights camera action, Freak Du Chic & Gore-geous accessories”. Even though she had a movie role, she still gets overshadowed by the main cast from that storyline, which is a shame, because she was super memorable to me for many reasons.

Honey Swamp is an absolute star in the Monster High world, bringing bayou brilliance and artistic flair wherever she goes. Inspired by a sweet Southern honey monster with roots in swamp folklore, her look is full of rich green hues, textured curls, and vintage Hollywood glam with a quirky twist (think Frankenstein’s swampy monster but glam). As an aspiring filmmaker, Honey’s creative spirit shines through every detail, from her camera-ready style to her storytelling charm. The community loves her for her originality and confidence; she’s a reminder to embrace your voice, celebrate your roots, and take centre stage in your own story.
Kjersti Trollson – The Gamer Ghoul
Kjersti Trollson feels like she was ahead of her time. She’s loud, competitive, and completely obsessed with gaming, something we didn’t see much of in Monster High before her. Kjersti is the youngest child and the only daughter of a Gore-wegian troll family, and she packed her bags to move to Scaremerica to get away from her annoying younger brothers.
She shows up in the animated musical Boo York, Boo York and got just one doll in 2015 as part of the “Brand-boo students” line. Because she only had one release and a pretty niche theme, she didn’t become super mainstream, but her fans really love her.

Kjersti Trollson is a pixel-perfect burst of gamer energy in the Monster High lineup, inspired by a quirky internet troll with a love for all things digital. With her bold, neon-bright colour palette, glitchy patterns, and chunky headphones, she looks like she’s stepped straight out of an arcade world. Every detail (from her joystick-inspired accessories to her playful, competitive expression) celebrates gaming culture in a fun, stylised way. Fans adore Kjersti for her unapologetic geekiness and vibrant personality; she represents the joy of hobbies, online friendships, and being proudly yourself, making her a total favourite among collectors and gamers alike (including myself).
Batsy Claro – Nature Lover and Activist
Batsy is an exchange student from Costa Shrieka. She is the daughter of a White Vampire Bat, is enamoured with anything to do with nature and is a rainforest activist. Batsy Claro is happiest surrounded by plants and animals, and she exudes a very excitable, sometimes standoffish energy.
She appears in Frights, Camera, Action! and received a single doll release in 2014 as part of the “Brand-Boo Students” line. She’s not flashy or dramatic, which might be why she didn’t stand out to everyone, and has been described as quite unlikable.

Inspired by a vibrant fruit bat from the rainforests of Costa Rica. Her design is a stunning mix of bold tropical colours, leafy patterns, and winged details that capture the wild beauty of her home. With her bright eyes, expressive features, and slightly shy demeanour, Batsy brings a sweet, nature-loving charm that feels both lively and gentle. The community loves her for her uniqueness and cultural roots. She celebrates biodiversity, adventure, and stepping outside your comfort zone, making her a beautifully refreshing addition to any collection (did I mention she has the most amazing wings?).
Luna Mothews – Dramatic Theatre Kid Energy
Luna Mothews is extra in the best way. She’s dramatic, expressive, and totally built for the stage. She is the daughter of the Moth Man, from Boo Jersey, and aspires to be a performer on Bloodway.
She appears in Boo York, Boo York as a performer and has had two doll releases: one in 2015 as part of the Gala Goulfriends line, and another in 2017 as part of the City Ghouls Boo york Boo york collection, along with Mouscedes King and Elle Eadee. Even though she had a strong personality in the movie, she didn’t get any other follow-up dolls, which is so disappointing, as her visuals and overall look are a strong favourite of mine.

Luna is one of the best underrated dolls for her visual look, in my opinion! And is inspired by one of my favourite animals- a luna moth. She has some elements of my favourite moth, but reimagined with a “Rocky Horror Picture Show“, drama-loving twist. Her look mixes edgy textures with flowing, wing-like elements, blending grunge and glam in a way that feels straight out of a backstage dressing room. With her expressive makeup, statement accessories, and larger-than-life presence, Luna gives full theatre kid energy. The community loves her for that unapologetic dramatics and individuality; she’s a celebration of self-expression, performance, and embracing every intense, passionate part of who you are.
Vandala Doubloons – The Ghost Pirate
Vandala Doubloons is easily one of the most creative characters in Monster High. She’s a ghost pirate with a love for treasure and adventure, what’s not to love?
She appears in the Haunted TV special and had one main doll release in 2015 as part of the “Student Spirits” line. Her design is pretty unconventional (she even has a peg leg), which might have made her less “mainstream,” but honestly, that’s part of her charm, and I love an inclusive design element.

Vandala Doubloons sailed into the Monster High world with ghostly pirate flair, inspired by a spectral swashbuckler forever chasing her lost treasure. With her translucent limbs, nautical details, and windswept, sea-soaked aesthetic, she looks like she’s drifted straight out of a haunted shipwreck. Her outfit is a treasure trove of pirate motifs (ropes, coins, and weathered textures) all touched with an eerie, oceanic glow. Fans love Vandala for her adventurous spirit and unique design; she brings a sense of mystery, humour, and high-seas storytelling to the collection, making her a standout favourite among collectors who adore the more spooky themes.
Casta Fierce – Pop Star Witch Energy
Casta Fierce, aka Casta Cauldronello, is basically Monster High’s resident pop icon. She’s loud, confident, and totally owns every room she walks into, and SHE IS A WITCH! She is the daughter of Circe, which is cool in itself and the lead singer of the band Casta & the Spells.
She shows up in webisodes and specials as a celebrity character and has had one notable doll in the “Signature Lone” series. The only thing holding her back from being more popular is that she’s not a main student character, but she still made a big impression on me.

Casta Fierce is one of those dolls that instantly stands out. Inspired by witchcraft and rockstar energy, she blends magic and music into a bold, unforgettable aesthetic. She’s the kind of character who owns the stage rather than fading into the background, and that confidence is a big part of her appeal (she also reminds me of Amy Lee from Evanescence). Her design is easily one of the fiercest in the line. With dark, dramatic colours, striking makeup, and a confident expression, she perfectly captures a modern witchy vibe. She feels powerful, stylish, and completely unapologetic.
Fans love Casta Fierce for her bold personality and standout look. She represents confidence, creativity, and embracing individuality. Even without a constant spotlight, she’s left a lasting impression on the neurodivergent community in particular, proving that sometimes being different is what makes a character truly unforgettable.
Amanita Nightshade – Mushroom Realness
Amanita Nightshade is one of my all-time favourite dolls, and I DON’T EVEN HAVE ONE (cries in being broke). Inspired by poisonous mushrooms, she brings a dramatic, high-fashion edge to the Monster High lineup. She’s bold, a little intimidating, and thrives on attention, which unfortunately makes her one of the least loved for personality.
Amanita has a flair for the dramatic and isn’t afraid to stir things up, which makes her both unforgettable and a bit divisive among fans. Unlike some main characters, she didn’t get much screen time and has only two dolls, both of which are no longer in production. Her “Lone Signature” doll and the “Scream and Sugar” series doll, along with the more recognisable dolls Cleo de Nile and her sister Nefera.

Her design, though, is absolutely stunning. With rich purples, blacks, and petal-like details inspired by toxic flowers and fungi, she has a look that feels both elegant and dangerous. She does not have the typical colours of the amanita mushroom that we love; however, the purples are quite dazzling, and her long hair, striking features, and regal styling give her a powerful, almost villainous charm.
Final Thoughts
One of the best things about Monster High is its creativity, and these lesser-known dolls are proof of that. They might not be the faces of the franchise, but they bring so much personality and originality to the world.
If you’re a collector or just getting back into Monster High, these are definitely the kinds of dolls worth rediscovering. And we can always hope that some of these will be in the next Creeproduction list.
